Three teens have been arrested for a string of vandalism in North Las Vegas.

According to police around 9:30pm Friday calls came in from victims reporting vandalism in the Northwest area of North Las Vegas. Simmons Street bordered the affected area to the west, Camino Al Norte to the east, Alexander Road to the south and Washburn Road to the North.

The victims said that car windows and homes were being destroyed by teen who were reportedly throwing rocks, jumping on vehicles, kicking in the side of vehicles, and one report of a manhole cover thrown through a vehicle window. A witness described the car that the teens were in.

According to 8 News Now, officers responded to the area and found a vehicle matching a description in the intersection of Lone Mountain Road and Camino Al Norte. Three suspects were taken into custody.

Two 16-year-old males and one 17-year-old male were arrested on multiple counts of injuring and tampering with a motor vehicle and destruction of private property, stemming from 11 reported incidents that occurred on Friday.

The suspects, all residents of Las Vegas, were booked at the Clark County Juvenile Detention Center.

The string of vandalism dates back to December 2010. In three previous vandalism sprees, officers tool over 70 individual reports totaling more than $100,000 in damage. All three suspects will face additional charges for their participation in these previous events that occurred in North Las Vegas and several other cases that occurred in Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s jurisdiction. Additional suspects are believed to be involved and could be arrested as early as this week.

North Las Vegas Police Department is still receiving reports this morning as citizens discover they too were a victim of the vandalism spree last night. Anyone needing to file a report, should do so at the nearest substation: Northwest Area Command located at 3755 West Washburn Road, at the corner of Washburn Road and Allen, or the South Area Command located at 1301 East Lake Mead Boulevard, at the corner of Lake Mead Blvd and Bruce Street.

Comic David Frye, whose impressions of Presidents Richard Nixon and Lyndon Johnson and other prominent political figures vaulted him to popularity in the 1960s and 1970s, has died in Las Vegas at the age of 77.

Clark County Coroner Mike Murphy said Saturday that Frye died of cardiopulmonary arrest at his home on Monday. Frye’s sister, Ruth Welch of Boynton Beach, Fla., says he was a born genius who began by imitating neighbors in Brooklyn, N.Y., where they grew up. She says her brother had an “ear for people’s voices” and an “eye for their movements” that made his impressions very accurate. She says he was a “wonderful” brother and will be missed “terribly” by his family. Among others, Frye appeared on the Ed Sullivan Show and the Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson

A former Las Vegas resident who pleaded guilty to submitting false mortgage loan applications to steal $2.4 million from a bank has been sentenced to six months of house arrest and five years of supervised release.

The U.S. Attorney’s office says 43-year-old Joseph Manfredonia was also ordered to pay restitution and forfeit more than $1 million to the government. He was sentenced Thursday. Manfredonia pleaded guilty in September to conspiracy to commit bank fraud, mail fraud and wire fraud. Co-defendant Kevin Wright also pleaded guilty. He was sentenced in November to 21 months in prison. Prosecutors say Manfredonia recruited people to submit false loan applications to Wells Fargo Bank from 2003 to 2005.

Pop star Bruno Mars is taking a plea deal that’ll get him a fine, probation and eventual dismissal of a felony cocaine possession charge in Las Vegas.

His attorneys and Clark County District Attorney David Roger say the 25-year-old Grammy nominee is due Feb. 4 to waive an evidentiary hearing so he can plead guilty in state court. Mars’ real name is Peter Hernandez. His case would be dismissed after a $2,000 fine, 200 hours of community service, drug counseling and a year on probation. The “Just the Way You Are” singer was arrested in September after a Las Vegas nightclub performance. Police said he had 2.6 grams of cocaine. Defense lawyer Blair Berk says Mars appreciates the opportunity he’s getting. Celebrity website TMZ first reported the deal.

Federal authorities in Las Vegas say they arrested three suspected of impersonating immigration officials to scam people trying to obtain legal status in the U.S.

The Nevada Attorney General’s office and federal authorities said Friday the people arrested are accused of running a business in Reno that purported to be part of the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service. Authorities say the suspects kept the money customers gave them and sometimes filed nothing. Some lost their legal status as a result of delays in processing their paperwork. The people arrested were Charles Doucette, Deborah Stilson, Cybil Duran Berti. They face charges that include criminal racketeering and conspiracy.

Gov. Brian Sandoval celebrated his inauguration with a ball Friday night, but organizers say they adapted it to fit the economic times.

They tell KLAS-TV that no taxpayer money was used to pay for the event at Wynn Las Vegas. Instead, individuals and businesses picked up the tab. Sandoval headlined the event in a short speech, pledging to work with all parties to make “this the greatest state in the union.” Nearly 2,000 people attended the inaugural ball.
